MORE LOST
BLOOM COUNTY STRIPS
In 1986, Opus found out that "college-educated penguins who are still single at age six have only a 3% chance of ever getting married," causing him to go into a panic and start a mad search for a mate. A TON of strips were cut out of this sequence, and although some have nothing to do with the plotline, they were all clever enough to be published for the general public to see...so what gives?
This strip was also part of the sequence and was also unpublished, but then again it's just plain weird.
Opus eventually did go out with girls (human girls), but they had names like "Lola Granola" and "Fran Bran." In the first two weeks of strips featuring Lola, her appearance was always hidden off-camera. In these two strips, though, she makes an appearance for the first time. The strip on the top was published; the strip on the bottom was not. Don't ask me why---they're related to each other...
This one is from Christmas 1984. Just about every strip from December of 1984 remains unpublished. Most involved Cutter John playing Santa Claus at a department store; you'll be seeing some of them later. I don't know why I cut this one out in this manner (there are several weird things I did with the cutting-out, but then again I was 8 years old)
In August of '84, Opus met Michael Jackson and "switched places" like in The Prince and the Pauper (it was Michael's idea, apparently, but Opus as Jackson was one of the strangest and scariest ideas this thing ever showcased). As you can tell from this Sunday strip, Jackson was a lot blacker then. The black-and-white dailies of this sequence were reprinted in book form. This Sunday one was not. And I know the last panel is missing....don't ask me what the punch line to this was....
Watch for even MORE lost Bloom County strips soon! But no more Michael Jackson ones, I promise.....
