The following video-game-related items are so rare, you probably haven't heard of any of them. They are all real, there is only a handful in the world of each, and you can NEVER HAVE THEM, because of the wallet-stopping combination of being both expensive AND totally useless. You can look, though. But you can't ever touch. In the first item's case, it'd just be too hot.

PARAPPA THE TOASTER

If this isn't the greatest item I've ever showcased in this series, I don't know what is

It's called a "printing toaster" because it burns Parappa-themed designs into your bread

eBay Price: $99.99

SUPER METROID STANDEE

Nowadays everybody knows a stand-up display has a long eBay life ahead of it after its initial use is finished. That's why the older these get before eBay existed, the more valuable they are

The price is pretty inflated on this one, though

eBay Price: $3000.00

CLOUD SHILLS PEPSI

If there's any match made in heaven, it's Pepsi and a video game based on themes of corporate greed and destruction, right?

eBay Price: $399.99

E.T. ATARI GAME STANDEE

If there's any match made in heaven, it's....okay, this was a pretty terrible match

eBay Price: $650.00

"WORLD OF NINTENDO" WAL-MART DISPLAY CASES

Every home needs at least three of these

eBay Price: $3,000.00

"LEGEND OF ZELDA" ANIMATION CEL

I can't remember why they would be sharing a belt. Anyone recall that episode?

eBay Price: $238.37

"NINTENDO INVENTORY ASSET" COPY OF WII PARTY

At one point, Nintendo randomly sent copies of Wii Party, plus free remotes, to a scarce few Club Nintendo members. AND THEY NEVER TOLD YOU!

Of course, you probably didn't want this game anyway, but that's no excuse, right?

eBay Price: $89.00

MARIO KART "LUIGI BUMBLEBEE" REAL LIFE VEHICLE

Whoa, where'd THAT come from? Who cares? It better fire shells! Eat it, rush hour!

eBay Price: $2,500.00

"PUNCH-OUT!!" BOXING GLOVE AUTOGRAPHED BY LITTLE MAC

Own ink from the man who punched out both Mike Tyson AND Mr. Dream

A promotional item for the Wii remake of the game, only obtainable via an Amazon.com pre-order

eBay Price: $160.00

RAREST GAME WATCH EVER

I didn't say "Game and Watch," I said "game watch," as in a watch promoting a game

Only 25 watches were made bearing the logo of "RAGE RACER," the third title in the Ridge Racer series

eBay Price: $249.00

OCARINA OF TIME GREEN TOTEBAG OF POWER

Exclusive to Japan; has a Hylian Shield zipper

eBay Price: $77

"RED DEAD REDEMPTION" BRAND DYNAMITE

It's made of wax actually. They're not making the mistake they made last time, when they shipped real brass knuckles to hype a GTA title (actually happened)

eBay Price: $53.00

"LAKERS VS. CELTICS" FOR MEGA DRIVE

Why would this be worth so much? Because, if you've paid close attention, it's a European release for an American sports game. Not as many people cared over there

eBay Price: $368.02

MR. GIMMICK

Take it on faith (or watch a Let's Play); "Mr. Gimmick" is one of the NES's most excellent titles. The graphics are some of the best on the system, and the controls are like butter

It was a UK exclusive. An American release was cancelled

eBay Price: $99.99

NEVER-BEEN-OPENED OCARINA OF TIME

If you'd only waited 15 years to open your own copy, look how much money you could have had by now

eBay Price: $1,225.00

CARDCAPTOR SAKURA GAME BOY COLOR

It's an official one, and the practice of anime-themed Nintendo handhelds is still in effect. Most recently, 3DSes with One Piece characters on them came out

eBay Price: $91.33

ULTIMATE STAR FOX WEEKEND CHALLENGE BUNDLE

All three rare carts for this Blockbuster Video tournament are included, plus the kiosk, banner, pins, a jacket, and....a StarFox parachute.

A PARACHUTE? I wanted to see that last one, but it was too big to photograph, they said

eBay Price: $6,000

FAMICOM 3D SYSTEM GLASSES

These are similar to the "active shutter" 3D glasses that came with 3D televisions until they invented a way to use polarized lenses with them. Meaning the glasses quickly switch back and forth between the left and right eyepieces, 60 times a second, to create a 3D illusion

Another cool thing that never left Japan. Their Rad Racer was much more rad

eBay Price: $66.00

"THE ADVENTURES OF KID KLEETS"

I've never heard of this one. I guess there's a reason

One of several misguided attempts to capitalize on the "World Cup Craze," in the event it actually materialized in America, since we were hosting the Cup that year

The appeal of futbol still eluded Yanks. And no one bought this. But it never hurts to be prepared, right?

eBay Price: $402.00

\
GAME CHILD AND GAME KID

Game Child AND Game Kid? What a deal!

eBay Price: $62.00

PLAYSTATION PRESS KIT (1996)

An intriguing look at mid-90's advertising techniques....over 60 pages of documents for the press to use

eBay Price: $79.99

COMMODORE 64 "ROBOTARM" COMPLETE WITH BOX

A unique piece of German software whereby you programmed a robot arm to follow commands with your Commodore 64 and joysticks

This is the killer app. I need a Commodore 64 now

eBay Price: $149.99

SUPER MARIO SHOWER POWER

That sounds exactly like the kind of title I'd make up, but this time it's real

The built-in "scald protection" keeps you from cooking your kids, even if you explicitly tried to

eBay Price: $19.99
This is one of those "too cheap for the list, but too interesting to ignore" sort of technicalities

SUPER MARIO 3 HAPPY MEAL DISPLAY

I remember these things. I think I still have the Springy Mario in a coffee can somewhere

eBay Price: $122.50

UNOPENED BOX OF SUPER MARIO 3 FRUIT SNACKS

"Fun To Play With, Not To Eat™"

eBay Price: $650.00

THE LAST OF US SOUNDTRACK

Now this is cool. There's actually a fold-out flash drive inside the "cassette" that contains the soundtrack on it

Take a look at the liner notes

eBay Price: $112.50

1997 E3 DOCUMENTS HYPING CANCELLED PAC-MAN GAME "GHOST ZONE"

This game was never released; read more about it here

Perhaps they made the right decision; these sheets were auctioned three times in a row with no takers. No one cared about Ghost Zone at all

eBay Price: $45.99

"NO ONE LIVES FOREVER" MARTINI GLASS AND SHAKE

This game has recently gained a cult following, likely for the simple fact that no one makes games like it anymore

Plus, the license is mired in legal muck, making a new game in the series, or a re-release, both impossible. Absence makes the heart grow fonder...of Cate

eBay Price: $225.00

BETTER SEGA KIOSK THAN THE ONES SEEN HERE PREVIOUSLY

Hot dang. It's like it was made to eventually put inside a den

Craigslist Price: $1,000.00

IMMENSELY HEAVY GALLERY OF YOSHITAKA AMANO'S FINAL FANTASY ART

Note that this recently came out in the US, and you should still be able to find it at any reputable bookseller new. But it's ridiculously expensive there as well!

eBay Price: $454.99

TAIWANESE PAC-MAN ATARI CART AND BOX

Wow, that looks JUST LIKE the game

eBay Price: Failed to sell
