This scene is also a bit longer and a lot more mushy.

Winnie has "final" scenes with Robb and Jessie too. In the actual episode this is trimmed to just Gene and Thomas.

Told you Jessie was different. Her subplot makes NO sense and she has a hangup no sister in the world would have. Obviously revised for a reason.

Full circle on "Jeremy Kendall."

Another abandoned aspect of Winnie is all these hints she's dropping about being involved in a lot of history. The concept is kinda dumb, I think -- another thing rightfully cut.

Enough with the butt stuff. Who wrote this, Tina Belcher?

Since the whole orange juice thing was changed, Winnie's remark after the break is different: "You're in my seat."

John Houseman played Professor Kingsfield in the movie The Paper Chase, and he died shortly before the date this script was written. "Ehrrrrrrn it" isn't quite right. "Uhhhhhhhn it" sounds like John.

The crucial "Thomas in bathrobe" scene is missing. I mentioned before it was somehow the most effective scene in the pilot.

Latest Update On The Search For Episode 14 Of Free Spirit

Welcome back to the search. When we last left off, the only lead I had to go on was the theory that this episode aired somewhere outside of America, in a place where The Simpsons hadn't premiered yet. On that note, someone suggested to me that I try making an entry for the episode at the Lost Media Wiki. They said the Wiki had been instrumental in tracking down obscure media that otherwise might never have been found, and its community might be able to help in this case as well. What have I got to lose, I figured, and made a page about Episode 14.

And sonofagun, it really worked.

Within three months the episode had actually been found. Like people figured, it aired in other countries. I still don't know if it ever appeared in Canada, but we now have evidence it did in Australia, because the episode was taped there and uploaded to YouTube later.

We did it; the search is officially over! If you need to find a piece of TV or film footage, the Lost Media Wiki gets my thumbs-up endorsement. So have I watched it yet? .....Um.

Here's the thing....I once thought I had burned through every second of Free Spirit footage there was. I had no reason to think there were any more than 13 episodes, because there usually isn't. Then, miraculously, more of it showed up. Now if I watch it, that's really and truly all there is. I've been given a second chance, and it feels more poetic to just bottle that wish and preserve it for later.

So I saved Episode 14 to my hard drive, and whenever I decide to view it, I'll let you know.
